It’s Easter time…This is a special time for many reasons:
Spiritual renewal, new beginnings, spring, and Cadbury Chocolate Eggs!
If Cadbury had these in the store all year long I’d weigh 500 pounds, but around Easter I eat them with wild abandon as I know their disappearance off the store shelves is imminent.
Note to self: “Self, buy a couple spare bags this year”
In a effort to not just sit down and eat a whole bag of these chocolate delights I came up with my own version of the Tried and True Rice Krispie Treat.
I made a few changes to the original recipe which I think makes the perfect treat, but you be the judge. The addition of the Cadbury Chocolate Eggs is merely decoration and flavor. If you want to stick with your favorite Rice Krispie Treat recipe go for it!
My Rice Krispie Treats:
Approved by Family & PTA Moms & Dads (That’s street cred if you ask me)
- 8 Cps Rice Krispies Cereal
- 6 Tbs. Butter (I use salted)
- 16 oz. Bag of Mini Marshmallows
- 10 oz. Bag of Cadbury Milk Chocolate Eggs (I used the shimmer ones because they are irresistible. You can use the original ones too)
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. Kosher Salt (Trust me on this one)
So Simple to Throw Together:
Melt the butter, on low heat, in a large saucepan (I use the size I use for soup). While the butter is melting get a 9×13″ pan and prepare with parchment paper. You will thank me later.
Once the marshmallows are melted you can turn off the heat and add the vanilla and salt. Stir to incorporate.
Add the Rice Krispies in the saucepan all at once and fold in pan until the are evenly coated.
Pour half the mixture into the pan and press down. I usually have a can of cooking spray handy. If you spray a little on your fingers they won’t stick to the treats. Then take half the bag of Cadbury Eggs and distribute evenly on this layer! YUM!!! Its like a Rice Krispie and Cadbury Chocolate lasagna!
Spread the rest of the Krispie mix on top of the bottom layers, smooth out, and evenly distribute the rest fo the Cadbury Eggs on top.
This is IMPORTANT!!!
Allow to cool for a couple hours before cutting. So, YES! Make this before the party & relax the day of!
Enjoy the Cadbury Egg Season,
